Roses are red

Violets are blue?

I can’t believe people

Accept this as true.

Because it rhymes

The world has gone mad!

This perjurious poem

Is more than a fad.

Up on my soapbox

I brazenly preach:

“Lying’s not covered

By freedom of speech!”

We have drawn out

Repeating the lies,

The color of violet

Betraying our eyes.

Don’t you dare tell me

That green is now red.

Our stop lights are go lights?

We’ll all wind up dead!

A rose is a rose

By any name?

O Romeo, Romeo

It’s not quite the same.

Truth must be true;

Honesty’s brutal.

Words must mean something

Or language is futile

So don’t send your lover

That Valentine’s card.

Violets are violet;

Good poetry’s hard.
