Prompt Images
There will come a time
when you’ll meet the you within you.
You’ll remove your outer shell.
You’ve worn it for so long
you mistook it for your own skin.
You’ll look in the mirror and
see with your new eyes
your scrapes and scars,
your freckles,
your wrinkles,
your color,
your crooked eyes and scrappy smile.
And as you look upon your nakedness
you’ll realize nothing’s changed,
but you’ll finally gaze at a perfect reflection.
The cracks you confused for flaws
were special to the design all along.
And the seam running across your wooden torso,
(cleverly disguised as your biggest fear)
So obvious.
So easy to miss.
It’s part of the game,
and is there to be parted.
Your newer you
will meet a new you again,
You’ll think it’s a sham.
but It’s part of the game.
You’ll think it’s a sham.
but It’s part of the game.
