The pressure is building. The temperature is rising. The moisture is pushing up, forming clouds, and things are starting to look ominous. A strike, a sound, and away we go!

As the summer hits high temps and the barometric pressure changes, we start to hear plenty of bangs, booms, and claps from the sky. Maybe your dog is terrified, but personally, we find thunderstorms pretty effing inspiring. And now, we want to hear the rumble of your brain. Write us a story, wouldja?

This Week’s Writing Prompt: THUNDER

This week, we’re looking for new original pieces, using a THUNDER as your story’s setting.

If you’ve got an inspired ideas about how to respond to this week’s prompt, send us your submission of 400-700 words. Write us anything that comes to mind when you think of THUNDER. It can be a personal essay, a poem, short story, script, or anything else original and fresh. Ironic or sincere, real or imagined—just make it worth our while and we’ll publish it, include it in our newsletter, and give you the chance to join the creative, talented staff writers here at The Prompt.

Email your responses to kelaine.conochan@thepromptmag.com by Friday July 5th at midnight ET.
