Twice a month, we issue a writing prompt to our own staff, guest contributors, and readers like you. We welcome guest submissions, so if you’re interested in being featured or regularly contributing to the site, email your responses to kelaine.conochan [at] thepromptmag.com.

What’s your love language?

Sure, there are the conventional ones that they write books about. That they’ll talk about in couples therapy. That will make or break your compatibility based on some internet quiz.

Words of affirmation. Receiving gifts. Quality time. Acts of service.

But then there are other, less conventionally studied love languages. A perfectly cooked steak. The deep purr of a cat when you scratch its chin. The way your niece and nephew make you read to them for hours. So many languages, and you never even knew you were fluent.

This week, we’re looking for you to put the language in love language by submitting your original creative work.

This Week’s Writing Prompt: LOVE LANGUAGE

This week, we’re looking for new original pieces, using LOVE LANGUAGE as your prompt.

If you’ve got an inspired ideas about how to respond to this week’s prompt, send us your submission of 400-700 words. Write us anything that comes to mind when you think of LOVE LANGUAGE. It can be a personal essay, a poem, short story, script, or anything else original and fresh. Ironic or sincere, real or imagined—just make it worth our while and we’ll publish it, include it in our newsletter, and give you the chance to join the creative, talented staff writers here at The Prompt.

Email your responses to kelaine.conochan@thepromptmag.com by Sunday October 27th at midnight ET.
