Prompt Images
Each week, we issue a writing prompt to our own staff, guest contributors, and readers like you. We welcome guest submissions, so if you’re interested in being featured or regularly contributing to the site, email your responses to kelaine.conochan [at] thepromptmag.com.
Raise your hand if you’ve ever had your heart broken.
OK, now raise your hand if you’ve ever broken someone else’s heart.
It sucks, right? And it barely matters whether the relationship has been short or long, or whether you’re on the giving or receiving end. Breakups are brutal. But that’s what makes them such good fodder for writing.
It’s time to sublimate. Take that pain and frustration and turn it into creativity. Because we want to read about it.
We’re looking for fresh ideas and new voices for this week’s writing prompt. So draft up 400-700 words using BREAKUP as the prompt. It can be a personal essay, a poem, short story, script, satirical post, or anything else original. Just make it worth our while and we’ll publish it, include it in our newsletter, and give you the chance to join the creative, talented staff writers here at The Prompt. And who knows, maybe you’ll even get over that loser who didn’t deserve you. Now that you’re a famous writer and everything, who has time to wallow in the past?
