Happy Holidays! (Sorry, the liberals got to me!)
Me? I’ve had a bit of a tumultuous 2023, but as the year rounds itself out, I’m finding comfort in all the things with which I have been blessed. Frequently I’ve leaned on friends and steadied by their comfort and security. Family also remains a bedrock and thankfully it was a mostly healthy year for everyone. Work continues to challenge and push me with new responsibilities, while still occasionally making me want to tear my hair out. Thankfully I’ve still got a thick mop of curls.
Three hundred and fifty-five days, if we’re counting (and we are!), with each day bringing a new, fresh opportunity to grow and learn. Like all great relationships, it keeps me guessing and full of wonderment.
It has been a whirl. Some days it’s been bleak and bland, but others have been giddy and grand. My baby’s got range.
It tests me and celebrates me. It has traveled with me to new places like Oregon and Portugal. It was the only thing with me during my five-day stint in COVID-jail this summer and has been patiently by my side in the last weeks as I deal with a broken hand.
I thought I was done playing these games. I tried the “name that tune” knock-off called Heardle and the geography quizzes Worldle and Globle. I messed around a bit with a movie identification version and a basketball player guessing game, but they couldn’t keep my attention. Even Wordle’s trivial cousin, Connections, was just that, trivial.
As we get ready to turn the page to 2024, I can’t wait to see where the next year takes my lover, my heart, my glory and me.
